The Kahn, Dees, Donovan & Kahn summer clerkship program is one of our primary means of recruiting and hiring new associates. We offer paid summer clerk positions to first- and second-year law students who are in or near the top third of their class. Work experience, participation in law review or moot court, and community involvement are also considered in evaluating candidates. We conduct on-campus interviews at area law schools, and students from any school may apply through their career placement office during the fall recruiting period or by contacting KDDK directly.

Our summer clerks are given a broad range of legal experience and exposure to multiple practice areas to assist them in making informed career choices. We endeavor to provide summer clerks with a realistic view of what life as a KDDK full-time associate would be like. Our clerks conduct legal research; draft memoranda, briefs, pleadings, and other documents; and observe client meetings, depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and court proceedings. Mentoring and constructive feedback on work product is given throughout the summer. Our “open door” policy encourages frequent interaction with all attorneys. We also arrange a variety of social activities throughout the summer to allow clerks to become acquainted with our attorneys on a more personal level.
