Kahn, Dees, Donovan & Kahn, LLP (KDDK) is pleased to announce that Steven M. Theising been named a partner in the firm, effective January 1, 2018; and that Joshua Richard “J.R.” Trockman and Nicholas J. Golding joined the firm in 2017.
Steven M. Theising practices primarily in the areas of business, real estate, tax and employee benefits, and healthcare law. Steve earned his bachelor’s degrees in accounting and finance from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University (IU), Bloomington, in 2007, and his Juris Doctor from the IU McKinney School of Law, Indianapolis, in 2010. He utilizes his accounting and financial background to provide practical and effective legal and business advice in closing and completing complex business transactions and contract negotiations in the areas of construction, manufacturing and healthcare. He also assists clients with addressing and resolving estate planning issues. Steve is a member of the Indiana State Bar Association and Evansville Bar Association
A native of Evansville and graduate of Reitz Memorial High School, Steve’s active commitment to the Evansville community includes service with Junior Achievement of Southwestern Indiana (Board of Directors), Indiana District of Kiwanis Southwind Division (former Lt. Governor); Green River Kiwanis Club (Past President); Green River Kiwanis Foundation (Past President); Jacob’s Village (Board of Directors); Rotaract Club of Evansville (member, former Board of Directors); Evansville Bar Association Mock Trial Competition; Young Professionals Network of Southwest Indiana; and IU Alumni Club of Greater Evansville.
J.R. Trockman joined KDDK in 2017 as an associate attorney, and often serves clients in the business, construction, healthcare, insurance and real estate industries with a variety of matters. Prior to joining KDDK, J.R. served as a summer associate for KDDK, as judicial extern (clerk) for Judge Jeffery Graham on the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Southern District of Indiana, and as clerk for Justice Mark S. Massa and for Justice Steven H. David on the Indiana Supreme Court. J.R. also spent a summer abroad at the University of Oxford’s Oriel College, where he studied European Union (EU) Taxation and EU Business Law.
J.R. earned his Juris Doctor and Certificate in Corporate and Commercial Law from IU’s Robert H. McKinney School of Law in 2016, and his bachelor’s degree in political science from IU in 2013. A native of Evansville and a graduate of William Henry Harrison High School, J.R. is involved in “E” is for Everyone, Habitat for Humanity and the Sierra Club.
Nick Golding also joined KDDK as an associate attorney in 2017. Nick currently assists with matters related to business, healthcare and debt collection law. He is a member of the Indiana State Bar Association and the Evansville Bar Association. Nick gained experience prior to joining KDDK serving as a clerk for Judge Richard Young of the U.S. District Court, Southern District of Indiana, and as a summer clerk for KDDK.
Nick earned bachelor’s degrees in history and English and a minor in business from IU in 2014. In 2017, he earned his Juris Doctor from IU’s McKinney School of Law, where he was a member of the Indiana Health Law Review (IHLR), wrote as a Note Candidate in 2015-2016 and served as Note Development Editor in 2016-2017. Nick authored The Needle and the Damage Done: Indiana’s Response to the 2015 HIV Epidemic and the Need to Change State and Federal Policies Regarding Needle Exchanges and Intravenous Drug Users, which was published in the Indiana Health Law Review, Vol. 14 Issue 2. Another Evansville native, Nick is a graduate of Reitz Memorial High School and member of the Rotaract Club of Evansville and Christ the King Catholic Church.
