On Saturday, April 26th, 2025, Carrie Mount Roelle will be inducted into the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame. Among her many accomplishments, Carrie helped lead the Bedford North Lawrence team to a perfect 29-0 record and a state championship as a senior, according to the IBHOF announcement. She was also named a 1991 Indiana All-Star, an IHSAA Mental Attitude Award winner, and was a member of teams that won 64 consecutive regular-season games in a streak that ended at 88 during the 1992-93 season. Carrie went on to play for Indiana University, where she was Academic All-Big Ten, won the IU Varsity Club Scholastic Achievement Award, and was a team captain in 1992-1993.
Carrie’s hometown radio station, WBIW.com, shared an in-depth story and interview with Carrie in December of last year when the inductee class was announced. In the article by Justin Sokeland, she is quoted as saying, “I was surprised. When I found out, what I thought about was all the coaches, my teammates I’ve had over the years. That’s why I’m in. One person alone, it’s hard to do it by yourself. I’m very thankful for all the time coaches spent with me, all my teammates who were supportive.”
In addition to her high school and collegiate basketball career, Carrie served as assistant girls’ basketball coach for Castle High from 2007-2015 and 2017-23. Congratulations, Carrie, on this well-deserved honor.
