Governor Holcomb Names G. Michael Schopmeyer Sagamore of the Wabash

We are pleased to announce that Governor Eric Holcomb has honored Mike Schopmeyer, our Partner and former Co-Managing Partner, as a Sagamore of the Wabash. The award is the highest civilian honor regularly bestowed by the Governor of Indiana at his discretion to individuals who have made distinguished contributions to the state.

Mike Schopmeyer and his wife, Laurie, celebrated with KDDK attorneys as Indiana Gov. Holcomb named Mike a Sagamore of the Wabash.

Larry Downs, former partner with KDDK, shared at the presentation ceremony that Schopmeyer’s contributions have been vested in the continued growth and success of Indiana. Downs remarked that Schopmeyer’s volunteer efforts in Southwestern Indiana are many. Larry shared that “Mike has advocated for the completion of I-69 for more than 25 years, including serving as legal counsel to Voices for I-69 and Bridgelink, and has helped lead numerous large-scale civic projects. In Evansville, he has been a founding member, past Chairman and Executive Committee member of the Economic Development Coalition of Southwest Indiana and the current Evansville Regional Economic Partnership (E-REP), as well as being a past Chairman and long-time board member for Keep Evansville Beautiful and the Evansville Tree Advisory Board.”

Larry went on to say, “he has also demonstrated great vision, I think, in his leadership position at E-REP as he realized that Southwestern Indiana would be much stronger if the four counties of Gibson, Posey, Vanderburgh, and Warrick united and became one economic development entity. He was very instrumental in getting that done.”

“In addition to serving our KDDK clients and involvement with E-REP, I have had the high honor of serving many other regional and state civic and government entities and causes. Giving back to the community remains an enduring and vital part of KDDK’s mission since 1908,” said Schopmeyer.
