Three KDDK attorneys have been recognized as Evansville’s “Lawyer of the Year” in their respective practice areas by The Best Lawyers in America©.
For the second time, KDDK Partner Jeffrey W. Ahlers has been named Evansville’s “Lawyer of the Year” for his work in Labor Law – Management. Jeff represents individuals, businesses, insurance companies, units of government, and professionals in complex business and commercial disputes involving commercial, tort, contract, environmental, mineral, employment, construction, real estate, civil rights, and other areas of law. Also an Indiana Registered Civil Mediator, Jeff is committed to representing clients zealously and effectively.
With 17 years of recognition by Best Lawyers, KDDK Partner Stephen S. Lavallo was named Evansville’s “Lawyer of the Year” for his work with Closely Held Companies and Family Business Law. Steve represents businesses, both large and small, as well as individuals in a variety of business transactions, organization, sales and leasing of properties, and in the defense of companies from worker’s compensation claims. In addition, he advises individuals in connection with their estate and wealth transfer planning as well as during the process of probate and trust administration. Steve is also a certified civil mediator.
Co-Managing Partner Mark S. Samila is a 10-year veteran of the list with multiple honors as Evansville’s “Lawyer of the Year.” This year, Mark received the designation in two practice areas: Corporate Law and Banking and Finance Law. Mark works extensively with privately owned businesses and their owners on the purchase and sale of businesses, equity investments, business and succession planning, and tax and estate planning. Blending his accounting and financial background with legal experience, he provides legal analysis rooted in a strong understanding of the business and financial implications of a client’s legal options.
Each year, Best Lawyers conducts an extensive peer-review process to compile a list of best attorneys in a broad range of practice areas based on peer feedback from across the region. “Lawyer of the Year” is awarded to individual attorneys with the highest overall peer feedback for a specific practice area within their geographic region.
